The Tides Of Change

The tides of change are upon us! Are you swimming with the current or against it?

The oldest direct handwritten news sheets circulated widely in Venice as early as 1566, breaking England with the Daily Courant in 1704 whilst she was under the reign of Queen Anne. Since then, they have become sewn into the fabric of our society…but for how much longer?

Now, there’s no denying that you can’t beat the texture, feel and smell of a newspaper. They’re the ultimate personification of nostalgia (let us know if you’ve got another one). But unfortunately, like with a lot of things, they are subject to change. The digital space moves fast and the advertising footfall within a paper is being eaten up by the internet. Online subscriptions and apps are replacing that ‘ye old faithful commuters purchase’, whether that’s for the better or not, who knows?

Businesses in order to keep up with the times, pardon the pun, have moved in the same vein. More than 85,000 businesses launched online stores or joined online marketplaces in just four months during Covid according to research from Growth Intelligence, while there has also been a surge in B2B ecommerce, according to Wunderman Thompson Commerce.

With more than 750,000 businesses forced to close their doors under Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, businesses in nearly every sector have accelerated their digital transformation to adjust to the ‘new normal’ and meet growing demand for online shopping, leaving the high street in very deep water.

If we look at the positives, with this change comes reduced overheads and newfound opportunity for businesses. But to unlock your online potential, your marketing strategies must adapt too – that’s why we’re here! Making the step can be a daunting process and here at DX we totally appreciate that. This is why in the first month of a live campaign our response time to any questions is a maximum of 24 hours and we provide Loom videos explaining our advertising process weekly in the first month, putting any qualms you may have to rest.

We’re here to break you out of the monotony of old-school advertising. That is unless you have an unquenchable thirst for sticking pamphlets under people’s windscreen wipers? We know your type… Get in touch today and let us get you up to speed online and catch up with the competitors who took the leap before you!
